Temple University Rome, established in 1966, provides students from a variety of disciplines the opportunity to study in Rome for an academic year, semester or summer. Over its 50-year history, Temple Rome has maintained a strong academic and cultural program that takes advantage of the splendid resources Rome and Italy have to offer, both historical and contemporary.
Courses taught at Temple Rome are specifically designed to enhance your understanding of your new surroundings. Many allow you to bring context and life to your studies through frequent on-site instruction within Rome and excursions to other cities, and by incorporating guest speakers and critics into the curriculum. Internships are also available. The program is open to qualified students matriculated at U.S. colleges and universities.
ACADEMICS
Courses at Temple Rome are broadly categorized into seven academic areas:
Architecture and Urban Studies;
Business;
Humanities/Social Sciences, including Italian Language and Culture;
Media and Communication;
Sport, Tourism and Hospitality;
STEM: Biology or Engineering;
and Visual Arts
The broad range of courses will allow you to take an interdisciplinary approach to your learning. With the exception of Italian language courses, all instruction is in English
Courses are taught by faculty from Italy and other European countries, in addition to faculty from Temple University’s Main Campus in Philadelphia
Fall/Spring Semester course load: 4-5 courses
INTERNSHIPS
Temple Rome offers a number of unpaid, credit-bearing internships with Italian and multinational companies (publishing companies, film and media agencies, tourism companies), law firms, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, galleries, museums, artists’ studios, schools, and a variety of other institutions in different fields.
The internship program provides an excellent opportunity to gain a direct and deeper understanding of cultural business practices, build your résumé, and experience another side of Italian life, while continuing regular coursework.
To be eligible for an internship at Temple Rome:

Orientation Programs
A pre-departure orientation program is conducted on Temple's Main Campus in Philadelphia by program administrators and former Rome students and faculty. An on-site orientation takes place during the first week of the program in Rome.
