The Application Cycle opens in mid-February

Deadline for petitions: Monday, April 27th 2026 

Discuss your study away plans with your Faculty Advisor(s) during Pre-registration for the semester before your participation to plan to prepare with any pre-requisites.

SAGE recommends that students request an application before leaving campus at end the spring semester.
Applications will be opened for requests made
no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, May 29, 2026
so students can meet the deadline.

NOTE: Between application cycles, the program information page will display
"This program is currently not accepting applications." This applies to the SAGE application cycle for Scripps students, and you will need to wait for the next application cycle to open.  The program continues to be an option in the next cycle. 

After attending a SAGE Info Session and meeting with a SAGE advisor, you will research your various options. Once you have chosen a program, you can request the SAGE Application when the application cycle opens.  Click on the green "Apply" tab on the SAGE landing page and then follow instructions there to request your SAGE application.

Students choose and apply to one program through the SAGE portal. After submitting your SAGE application, you will complete the program sponsor's application for your selected program. Consult with your SAGE advisor on when best to apply to the program provider since some programs have rolling admissions and may fill up before the published deadline. The majority of students do not need a back-up choice for fall programs.  Depending on the spring program selected, some students may be advised to have a back-up option since nationally, spring programs frequently have more applications than spaces.
